ANDPVA’s Gathering to Commemorate Indian Residential School Survivors

We partnered with Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre to present ANDPVA’s Gathering to Commemorate Indian Residential School Survivors. We started with an opening ceremony by the pond conducted by Joanne Powless, Ohkwali Faithkeeper. At midday, Pamela Chrisjohn and Rosie Weiler presented a feast with corn soup as their specialty. For our Creation and Clan Story Workshop, Rebecca Baird demonstrated a Two Row Wampum bracelet-making workshop. The Red Revue presented Susan Aglukark, the Red Bear Singers (an Indian Residential School Survivors troupe) and All Nations Drum led by Kevin Myran. Red Pepper Spectacle and their artists showcased our Reslience Mosaic Project with a strawberry design by Chippewa Artist Naomi Smith. Vivian Timmins wowed with an orange shirt dreamcatcher-making workshop. Patricia Schuyler shared her story at the Writers Room.
